ASHA 6TH & 7TH MODULE TRAINING PROGRAMME IN JALPAIGURI DISTRICT

 

Goal of the Project:

As per the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), government of India has a mission to provide every village in the country with a ASHA who will responsible to mobilize community and facilitate in accessing the services of Sub Centres and Anganwadi Centres.

Objective of the Project:

 

Ø  The concerned project is related to the training of the ASHAs like Induction Training, ASHA 6th & 7th Module Training, Refresher Training, HHWs/Urban ASHAs Induction Training and 6th & 7th Module Training in Jalpaiguri & Alipurduar district of West Bengal. ASHA will have to undergo series of the training  to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence for performing her role at field level.  

Ø  The Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) Project of the Government of India was started in 2005 and West Bengal started in 2006 as a part the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). It is the key component of the NRHM to provide every village in the country with a trained female community health activist ASHA. Now much in NRHM & NUHM is NHM.

Ø  WBVHA is working in collaboration with the government to run the ASHA project from 2008 in Jalpaiguri & Alipurduar both District. The Training & Retreat Centre is being located in Malbazar of Jalpaiguri district tends to train 2412 ASHAs of both the districts.

Ø  WBVHA is responsible to provide training to the ASHAs selected all together 13 blocks in Jalpaiguri & Alipurduar district with the government support so they can render their services without any hindrances.

 

Collaboration of the Project:

·         State ASHA Cell, NHM, Department of   Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dept. of Heath and Family Welfare Samiti, Jalpaiguri.

 

Activity details:

Ø  WBVHA is responsible to develop knowledge, skills, confidence of ASHAs and advising ability and report building with beneficiaries at her field level.

Ø  Develop field level performance for health services to especially PNC Mother and Newborn by hand holding supported by District Trainers  

Ø  The ASHAs are trained by the Resource Persons (District Trainers) selected from different blocks.

Ø  The District Trainers at first selected and trained at govt. approved state level training centre and then they provide training to the ASHAs.

Ø  To supervise the work of the ASHAs the District Trainers have to conduct Hand Holding support every month to assess the work of ASHAs.

Ø  Further the work of the District Trainers & ASHAs are being Supervised by the Training Coordinator twice a month and once by the Chief Functionary of the ASHA 6th & 7th Module Training Programme through Hand Holding Monitoring Visit.

Ø  To supervise the work of the ASHAs the District Trainers from the WBVHA have to conduct Hand Holding Visits every month to support and guideline to the Improvement of the ASHAs works.

 

Project coverage:

Ø  Different blocks of Jalpaiguri & Alipurduar district related to ASHA 6th & 7th Module Training Programme.

Ø  WBVHA have provided direct support & guided by District Trainers to 653 no. of ASHAs in Jalpaiguri & Alipurduar district during their beneficiaries’ visit to improve their skill level through the following methods:

·         HBPNC Form no.6 fill up by the ASHAs

·         Hand washing procedure to beneficiaries

·         Wrapping procedure to Newborn

·         Temperature Measuring to  Newborn & Post Natal Mother,

·         Steps of Breast Feeding and important of Breast Feeding for Newborn & Post Natal Mother,

·         Breath Rate counting to Newborn

·         Taking Weighing to Newborn

·         Matrix use

·         IMNCI Chart use

·         Linkage between IMNCI & Matrix

·         How to used of all equipment's and keep the records.

 

 

Sustainability issues and concerns:

 

The outcome of entire ASHA 6th & 7th Module Training Programme is very satisfying which is very appreciable and it is running with high enthusiasm by the Organization's effort. The Governing body is very fast in carrying out the project properly and covering a large section of rural people to get them benefitted.  The beneficiaries are satisfied and they are taking the opportunities from the very organization. The organization is executing its activities according to its goal.  Even the stuffs and members are progressing their work satisfyingly.  Above all this kind of project is very needful in the country like India to create a ailment free society.
